Preschool Assistant Teacher Application

Sioux Falls, SD | $16–$20/hour (based on experience) |  Part-Time: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM

**Will consider breaking into two positions - one MWF and one T/TH if needed for scheduling.


Do you enjoy working with young children and helping create a positive, engaging learning environment? The Sensory Studio is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Preschool Assistant Teacher to support our preschool programs and help children learn, play, and grow.

Position Overview

As a Preschool Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for children. You will assist with daily classroom activities, support children during transitions and play, maintain a clean and organized learning space, and help foster positive relationships with families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines.

  • Support children during learning activities, free play, snack time, and transitions.

  • Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Encourage positive social interactions and age-appropriate independence.

  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and activities.

  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization throughout the day.

  • Communicate professionally and positively with families and staff.

  • Follow all safety, health, and licensing requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Friendly, patient, and dependable.

  • Passionate about working with young children.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Able to engage with children through play, learning, and daily routines.

  • Comfortable with cleaning, organizing, and classroom setup tasks.

  • Previous childcare, preschool, daycare, or educational experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Hours: Part-time; morning preschool hours with occasional special events.

  • Location: The Sensory Studio, 3000 E Jackson St, Sioux Falls, SD 57108

  • Pay: Starting at $16-20/hour, depending on experience.
